Some Things I Have Done....

This is a really cute idea that I copied off of a great blogger at http://raggamuffyn.blogspot.com. She wanted everyone to copy this to their blog and highlight or bold all the things they have actually done. I had a lot of fun with this and am a little sad at all the things I haven't done on the list! Feel free to copy it to your blog and do the same...It tells people interesting things about you that they may never know otherwise.....Happy Blogging!

Quick Takes Friday 4

Well, it is time to get back to blogging after the Christmas fray! I have actually missed it and look forward to catching up on a few other people's blogs that I haven't been reading....Things have been a little crazy at our house but we are slowly easing back into our normal routine. Check out everybody else's quick takes at Jen's blog at http://conversiondiary.com/.
  1. Well, I have several New Year's resolutions. I am going to be healthier for one. I am going to run the Knoxville Half-Marathon for another. And I am going to continue to run as the Good Lord allows and my legs work. It is a great outlet for me. And my final and most important resolution is that I am going to read my Bible cover to cover. I feel like that I need to do that because I just haven't done it in a while and I have such a better understanding of the Old Testament now than I did several years ago. I just know that means that probably in February I will be in Leviticus and Deuteronomy and that I will be regretting this decision.
  2. So, the big news in Knoxville is that Erin Brockovich is here to access the Roane County coal ashe spill. She is helping everybody learn their rights, etc. I have a feeling TVA is in some big trouble. Have you seen the Erin Brockovich movie? That chick is not playing around. Maybe they will make an Erin Brockovich 2 and Julia Roberts will get to play her again.
  3. Ok....Conversation I had yesterday with my 5-year-old. CALEB: "Mommy, what happens if you are in a building and it is on fire and all the exits are on fire too?" ME: "Well, sweetie, I hope that never happens to you but I guess that if you are in a building and it is on fire and you can't get out then you would die in the fire." CALEB: (Hysterical crying and screaming) Umm.....well, I told him the truth.
  4. So, my husband and I started the South Beach diet in our quest to be healthier. On that diet the only carbs you can have for two weeks are vegetables. For some reason, not having carbs in my system has made my dreams really, really crazy....I already have really weird dreams anyway.....But I have had some truly bizarre ones recently. The funniest part of one though is that I was carrying around a loaf of white Wonderbread and shoving piece after piece into my mouth....I guess even my subconcious is missing the carbs!
  5. I had the coolest experience on Wednesday.....Being a runner now I am always on a quest for the best running shoes. I went into Fleet Feet here in Knoxville on Wednesday and got the VIP treatment. The guy in the store spent over an hour helping me pick out the best running shoes. He was a sweetheart and I appreciated his kindness so much! He made me run on the treadmill in the store several times to access my gait.....Then he helped me find the right shoes that would correct all of my problems. And they work too! I saw it with my own eyes on his little treadmill foot camera...When I put the shoes on that were perfect for me I was actually running with an improved posture and gait. Amazing!
  6. I am reading an extremely deep theology book right now. It is called Theology and Down Syndrome by Amos Yong. It is such a hard read but very worth it. The book is a study about how the Bible perceives disability and its purpose for us as human beings and in our society as whole. It is amazing to read about how different Bible scholars over the years percieve disability and what they feel that the reason it exists are. I have been blown away. And you ask, why do you think this is so interesting? My career is in Special Ed and Early Intervention.....Having worked with many families with children with disabilities I wrestled a lot with the suffering of these children and the impact on their families spiritually. This book is helping me better understand God's complete sovereignty in it all.
  7. Well, as the new year begins I have to say that I am looking forward to what 2009 will bring. It may bring pain, joy, hope, health, sickness or strife....but whatever it brings I am ready! Have a blessed 2009 everybody!
